Past Perfect Tense in Hindi & English — Rules, Structure, Examples, Common Mistakes & Practice
जब हमें यह बताना हो कि past में दो actions हुए थे और उनमें से एक action दूसरे action से पहले complete हो चुका था, तब Past Perfect Tense का इस्तेमाल करते हैं।
जैसे:
- मैं उसके आने से पहले खाना खा चुका था।
- वह मेरे पहुँचने से पहले जा चुकी थी।
- जब हम स्टेशन पहुँचे, ट्रेन निकल चुकी थी।
- उसने अपना काम पूरा कर लिया था, फिर वह घर गया।
इन सभी sentences में दो actions past में हुए, लेकिन एक action पहले complete हो चुका था, इसलिए यहाँ Past Perfect Tense का इस्तेमाल होगा।
Past Perfect Tense क्या है?
Past Perfect Tense का इस्तेमाल ऐसे action के लिए किया जाता है जो past में किसी दूसरे action से पहले complete हो चुका था।
इसका basic idea है:
Past में एक action पहले complete हो चुका था = Past Perfect
Examples:
I had finished my work.
मैं अपना काम पूरा कर चुका था।
She had left.
वह जा चुकी थी।
They had eaten dinner.
वे dinner खा चुके थे।
He had completed the task.
उसने task पूरा कर लिया था।
यहाँ had + V3 का इस्तेमाल हुआ है क्योंकि ये actions past में किसी दूसरे point/action से पहले complete हो चुके थे।
Past Perfect Tense की पहचान कैसे करें?
Hindi में ऐसे sentences में अक्सर:
- चुका था
- चुकी थी
- चुके थे
- लिया था
- दिया था
- गया था
- कर लिया था
जैसे expressions मिलते हैं।
Examples:
मैं खाना खा चुका था।
I had eaten dinner.
वह जा चुकी थी।
She had left.
वे अपना काम पूरा कर चुके थे।

मैं उसके आने से पहले निकल चुका था।

लेकिन केवल “चुका था / चुकी थी / चुके थे” देखकर tense decide नहीं करना चाहिए। यह देखना जरूरी है कि past में कोई action दूसरे past action से पहले complete हुआ था।

Subject + had + V3 + Object
यहाँ had सभी subjects के साथ इस्तेमाल होता है।
I → had

We → had

वह dinner बना चुकी थी।
He had left the office.

Had का इस्तेमाल
Past Perfect में सबसे important बात यह है कि had सभी subjects के साथ आता है।

Questions in Past Perfect
Past Perfect में question बनाने के लिए Had को sentence की शुरुआत में लाते हैं।
Structure:
Had + Subject + V3 + Object?

क्या वह जा चुकी थी?

ध्यान दें कि Past Perfect के question में did का इस्तेमाल नहीं होता।

जब question में what, where, why, who, when, how जैसे words हों, तो structure होगा:

Past Perfect with Before
Past Perfect का बहुत common use before के साथ होता है।
जब कोई action दूसरे action से पहले complete हो चुका हो, तब Past Perfect का इस्तेमाल कर सकते हैं।
Example:
I had finished my work before he arrived.
मैं उसके आने से पहले अपना काम पूरा कर चुका था।
यहाँ:
- I had finished my work → पहले हुआ
- he arrived → बाद में हुआ
इसलिए पहले action के लिए Past Perfect इस्तेमाल हुआ।

Past Perfect का इस्तेमाल after के साथ भी किया जा सकता है।

Dinner खाने के बाद वह सोने चली गई।

By the time के साथ Past Perfect का इस्तेमाल बहुत common है।

जब तक मैं station पहुँचा, train निकल चुकी थी।
By the time we arrived, the movie had started.
जब तक हम पहुँचे, movie शुरू हो चुकी थी।
By the time she came home, her children had slept.
जब तक वह घर आई, उसके बच्चे सो चुके थे।
यहाँ by the time हमें past events का sequence समझने में help करता है।
Past Simple और Past Perfect में अंतर
यह Past Perfect का सबसे important concept है।
Past Simple:
I finished my work.
मैंने अपना काम पूरा किया।
→ सिर्फ यह बताया गया कि काम पूरा हुआ।
Past Perfect:
I had finished my work before he arrived.
उसके आने से पहले मैं अपना काम पूरा कर चुका था।
→ यहाँ यह भी clear है कि काम पहले पूरा हुआ और वह बाद में आया।
