Note: sth means something while sb means somebody. One’s is replaced with a possessive pronoun such as your, my, his, her, etc.

1. Move heaven and earth

We’ve all experienced it and most of us would move heaven and earth to avoid it.

2. Hedge one’s bets

-I decided to hedge my ets by buying shares in several different companies

There are, of course, reasons to hedge one’s bets on China.

3. Neither here nor there

-Whether they leave the party or stay is neither here nor there as far as I’m concerned

-महत्वहीन

Start worrying when we’re neither here nor there.

4. A hidden agenda

-He stressed that the review was to identify staffing needs and there was no hidden agenda to cut jobs.

Hidden agendas A hidden agenda is where some one’s behaviour is determined by a motive which is undeclared and being deliberately concealed.

5. High and mighty

-He started behaving all high and mighty since he got the promotions

-घमंडी

He’s too high and mighty to mix with ordinary people like us!

6. On high

-Those on high have decided that others work and extra our ever day.

-ऊंचाई पर , स्वर्ग से

God looked down from on high

7. The rest is history

-Mangal Pandey was the first to die in the country’s first war at independence and the rest is history

-सबको पता होना

The Beatles had their first hit record in 1962 and the rest is history.
