Note: sth means something while sb means somebody. One’s is replaced with a possessive pronoun such as your, my, his, her, etc.

1. Break the ice

-Someone at the confidence will have to break the ice.

She helps break the ice when I am interviewing.

2. Be in for

-We’re in for a difficult time.

-पाने वाला होना, में पढ़ने वाला होना

We’d better hurry or we’ll be in for it.

3. Within an inch of

-The care was within an inch of the disaster when i managed to apply the brakes.

-के अत्यंत निकट

He came within an inch of being killed.

4. Add insult to injury

-First of all he arrived an hour late and hours and then, to add insult to injury, he complained about my selection of the hall for the event.

-जले पर नमक छिड़कना

She not only deceived him but, to add insult to injury, allowed him to pay for her meal.

5. An itching

-Most ministers in this government have itchy palms.

-लालच

You yourself are much condemned to have an itching palm; to sell and you’re your offices for gold to undeceives.

6. Ipso Facto

-The court held that ipso facto the owner of the company is responsible for the worker’s death.

-इसी बात से, सवरूप से ही

If a crime occurs then there is, ipso facto, a guilty party.

7. In toto

-The available data amounts to very little in toto.

-पूर्णत

They accepted the plan in toto.
