Note: sth means something while sb means somebody. One’s is replaced with a possessive pronoun such as your, my, his, her, etc.

1. Jump Ship

-He was to come with us and lend a hand but he seems to have jumped ship.

-बच निकलना, एकैक बिना बताय कही का काम छोड़ देना

-Sam seriously injured the fellow, and was then compelled to jump ship

2. Just around the corner

-It’s nice to see new leaves on the trees and to know that spring must be just around the corner.

-नजदीक होना, पास ही में होना

-Our house is just around the corner.

3. A kick in the teeth

-She was refused promotion which was a real kick in the teeth after all the extra work she’d done.

-किसी के साथ वेह्व्हर करना या किसी को समय सहायता नहीं करना

-Sometimes you need a kick in the teeth to get up and going again and to concentrate on the basics.

4. Kick the habit

-No coffee for me, thanks. I’m trying to kick the habit.

-बुरी आदत छोरना नशे की लत छोर देना

-I just can’t seem to kick the habit.

5. Kill two birds with one stone

-I had to go to Hyderabad for a meeting with my agent, and decided to kill two birds with one stone and go see my sister while i was there anyway.

-इक पंथ दो काज, इक तीर से दो निशाने लगाना

-Thorpey said it’d kill two birds with one stone.

6. Make a killing

-They made a killing in real estate.

-आसानी से धन कमाना

-Investors are set to make a killing from the sell-off.

7. A king’s ransom

-On her birthday, he bought for her a diamond necklace which must have been worth a king’s ransom

-धन का बड़ा हिस्सा, बेहद कीमती

-Her diamond necklace must have cost a king’s ransom.
