Note: sth means something while sb means somebody. One’s is replaced with a possessive pronoun such as your, my, his, her, etc.

1. a new kid on the block

sb who is new in a place or organisation and has many things to learn about it

-कोई जो नई जगह और संस्था में आया हैजिसके सिखने के लिए बहोत कुछ हो

I was the new kid on the block, having just been hired the week before.

2. blood, sweat and tears

-a lot of effort and suffering, extremely hard work

-भरसक प्रयास और पीड़ा

The only way to succeed is through old-fashioned blood, sweat and tears.

3. have blood on one’s hands

– be responsible for sb’s death

-किसी की हत्या का ज़िम्मेदार होना

He has my son’s blood on his hands.

4. in sb’s blood

-part of one’s genetic inheritance

-खून में होना

His father and grandmother were painters too, so it’s obviously in the blood.

5. new blood

– new people in an organisation who will provide new ideas and energy

-जवान खून

This company is badly in need of new blood.

6. there’s bad blood between

-feelings of hate between people because of arguments in past

-पिछले विवादों की वजह से नफरत होना

Unfortunately, there’s bad blood between my parents since their divorce, especially since my mother is dating a successful young lawyer.

7. blow hot and cold

-to sometimes like or be interested in sb or sthand sometimes not

-कभी दोस्त, कभी दुश्मन होना

he keeps blowing hot and cold about the wedding.
