Note: sth means something while sb means somebody. One’s is replaced with a possessive pronoun such as your, my, his, her, etc.

1. between you and me

in confidence

This is just between you and me.

2. bird of passage

-a transient, one who is here today and gone tommorow

जो आज है कल नहीं

If conditions are not nearly as good as they had imagined they might be, they become birds of passage

3. a wet blanket

-person who spoils other people’s fun

रंग में भंग करने वाला

 He was such a wet blanket at the party that they never invited him again.

4. in cold blood

-in a planned way and without pity or other emotion

सोच समझकर

He murdered her in cold blood.

5. blue blood

– descent from nobility

उच्च वंश से

Many blue blood children attend this private school.

6. have the blues

– feel depressed or sad

परेशांन

I really have the blues today.

7. as bold as brass

-shameless, impudent

बेशरम

 She marched into his office as bold as brass .
