Note: sth means something while sb means somebody. One’s is replaced with a possessive pronoun such as your, my, his, her, etc.
1. call the shots
– be in charge of what is happening

2. be in the can
– completed
– उपयोग के लिए पूरी तरह से तैयार
But her boy, who already has one success in the can, would settle for a shiny new toy.
3. have a card up one’s sleeve
– a hidden or secret advantage or resource
– छिपा हुआ फायदा
before we make a decision, let’s see if the rivals have another card up their sleeve.
4. keep one’s card close to one’s chest
– be secretive or cautious, give nothing away
– छिपाकर रखना
He’s still playing his cards close to his chest.
5. put one’s cards on the table
– be open and honest; reveal one’s position or intentions

John laid his cards on the table and told her how much they could afford.
6. sweep sth under the carpet
– try to hide a problem or keep a problem a secret instead of dealing with it

– a mixture of rewards and punishments
